i hope everyone knows OP is not joking because bezos literally owns washington post

it should be clear: the “mob rule” rhetoric is just a euphemism from the ruling class telling you to just lie down and shut up because they see people pushing back against their manifestly evil agenda. cousin to the more craven “civility” rhetoric

Amazon is the one where even execs can be found sobbing at their desks. There was an article with an ex-high ranking employee talking about it. It’s ironic and strange, and makes for its own anti-meritocracy/anti-capitalism point–what’s the point of excelling and rising to the top, if you’re going to be miserable and afraid up there? Most people desire to reach the top for the rewards. At most corporations things are horrible on the bottom but get better as you move up in position.

Given what I’ve heard of Amazon workplace for the higher-ups, I can’t imagine they’re enjoying their rewards much. Toxic workplaces rob your life of any joy. Amazon is some sick shit.

what the fUck does that mean

Jeff Bezos wants to make your children greedy monster gremlins

Am I reading this wrong?

I’m taking this as “the children are customers” and the employees of the school are taking the “customers satisfaction at top priority” approach…

That’s exactly what he meant, these people are just being whiny brats because they can’t stand it when someone they don’t like has a good idea.

That said. I don’t like the idea because imagine teachers being treated the way Amazon employees are.

hey default icon, just want you to know, “these people” are all pretty much reacting to the way he said he wants it to adopt Amazon’s principles. Please, instead of sucking the Cheeto dust from your fingers to type another response, shut up.

I mean, I also think that “the children are the customers” is a pretty bad idea because a) there are already enough customers who act like they’re 5 and spoilt and will scream at retail staff over tiny things, and b) “the customer is always right” and “the children are the customers” of the school does not seem ideal for the purposes of increasing the education level of the students…

these men have the power to save lives without lowering their standards of living at all. they could still live the lives of the upper one percent and also fund programs that give homes to the homeless, or pay medical bills, or overhaul entire regional water systems, or any of the other myriad of preventable ways that people die, and they choose not to! who cares whether or not they earned their money, they have it now, and yes, they legally don’t have to raise a finger to save people at no noticeable cost to themselves just like legally you don’t have to save a stranger from being hit by a car with no noticeable cost to yourself, but if you could, why wouldn’t you? if someone calls to you for help and you can help them, how can you justify turning aside?
