In the spirit of us imagining what Danny Phantom would be like if it was rebooted today, I went ahead and re-composed the theme!
Feel free to use this for anything, just credit me if you do! If you need the audio file, message me and I’ll send it to you.
This is making the rounds again so I figured I should give the inside scoop as to what made this project.
1) This song is made entirely with orchestra instruments. A real life orchestra could literally play this if they wanted to. The reason for this is because I legit didn’t know there were electronic synths in the program I was using. The full list of instruments used are: a drumset, snare drum, clarinet, flute, electric guitar, trumpet, english horn, tuba, violin, cello, bass, and piano.
2) The instruments chosen for this song are HEAVILY based on the instruments used in Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack for Inception called “Time.” The biggest differences are that I added a flute to mine because I actually play the flute so I think it sounds good, and the clarinet which I added later to act as a harmony to the flute and also act as a buffer to help darken the sound a bit.
3) I used free music scoring software. Like, super free. As in, there’s no way to crescendo or decrescendo (aka once you say a note’s forte, that’s it bitch it’s forte). So I had to try to create the illusion of notes getting louder or softer based on where I put the highs and lows in the measure. I also used the violin’s slight delay and paired it with other instruments to give the illusion of shape. Yayyy mindfucks.
3) I knew I wanted a LOUD ASS piano bass during the bridge, but at the time I had no idea how to separate the two piano clefs in the program. So what that means is if the bass clef was set to double forte, the treble clef would also automatically playback double forte. Originally in the bridge I wanted the treble clef—aka the slow variation of “gonna catch ‘em all cuz he’s Danny Phantom” melody—to fade into the background with the other instruments. But because I didn’t know how to do that, it ended up playing back super loud. I realized then I actually kinda liked it, so I decided to just roll with it. When the second drop hit, I decided to reverse the tune to be “cuz he’s Danny Phantom, gonna catch ‘em all” just to give a lil bit of variation.
4) In fact, the entire thing was a spontaneous thing I made over a weekend. Nothing was planned (aside from the 2 danny phantom melodies used) and literally everything you’re hearing was either made on the spot or made through me messing up and liking it more than what was in my head. Whoops!
5) This sheet music is actually free for downloading/viewing on musescore! So if you play an instrument/are learning to play an instrument and just wanna see how this is, then click here to access the full thing.
